New Beginnings

Quite a few months back I said I would be back, but that didn’t happen. I don’t know where to even start , but know that Im in the process of moving this blog to my portfolio site. Basically, when you type in it will direct you to my portfolio site instead of here. This blog will be defaulted back to the original URL The reason for the lay off of all things sneaker and photography stuff? My lower back. For a couple of years now I’ve had the grueling pleasure of dealing with a pinched nerve and sciatica on my left leg. Not the best of times I tell you.

Release Reminder: New Balance x Ronnie Fieg ” Central Park and Brooklyn Bridge”

Ronnie Fieg is back at it again with New Balance. This time releasing two models side by side on the same day. RF takes a crack at the 530 and 580 models with make ups that take inspiration from two of New Yorks landmark. Central Park and the Brooklyn Bridge; where each of his retail stores reside. Simple stories with one really good outcome, and another that is rather boring looking. By far, the NB530 Central Park is the winner here with loads of intricate details. It comes dressed with a quilted vamp and ankle liner, reflective 3M, micro perforated nubuck, leather, suede, map of Central Park on the insoles, half of a gum sole and a colorway that resembles Central Park in the fall. Brilliant. As for the the NB580, it comes with some microperforated saddle leather, suede, splatter to the midsole, two tones outsole and the OG schematics to the Brooklyn Bridge on the insoles…

Release INFO: ASICS x Ronnie Fieg Gel Lyte V “Rose Gold” & “Sage”

ASICS x Ronnie Fieg Gel Lyte V Rose Gold & Sage

The next release of endless releases from Ronnie Fieg with ASICS is here. It comes as a double launch with one that is a re-hash from one of his previous shoes and another that looks like he got the idea from the wet ASICS Gel Lyte lll “Cove”. First up is the Gel Lyte V “Rose Gold” colorway that mimics his GTll; you can read my breakdown of the two shoes here. Aside from the differences I wrote about, there is nothing really here to be excited about; other than missing out on it the first time around. Personally, I prefer the GTll. My biggest complaint would be with the hue of this release. It doesn’t match the OG at all. It looks dull here and a bit more orange. This was also an issue with the recent Gel Lyte V “Mint Leaf” and “Cove” releases which were a bit off when compared to the OG make-ups. The other issue is the abundance of that blue hue. There’s just too much of it here. So if you have the GTll “Rose Gold”, you still winning. Again, this release feels like it was meant for the people that missed out on the first one. I’m good with the OG, thank you….

Sneek Peek: ASICS x Ronnie Fieg GLV “Rose Gold”

asics ronnie fieg glv rose gold

So, it’s official. The image I tweeted a few months ago was definitely not fake (Shout out to the homie that sent it to me). Above is another photo that has been floating around for a little while too. Today Ronnie Fieg tweeted the first official image of the ASICS x Ronnie Fieg GLV “Rose Gold”. Another remake of the classic and much-sought-after-because-I-slept-on-them-the-first-time ASICS GTll “Rose Gold“. Right away you can see some big differences between this ‘new’ Rose Gold colorway and the OG. For one, the Tiger Stripes are white instead of  brown and the light blue that was behind it is missing from the GTll OG CW. The second big difference is the micro perforated toe-box, as opposed to the standard Ronnie Fieg perforated toe box.; one of his key signature on his ASICS releases. You can also find this micro-perf throughout the shoe from the heel cap suede to the side paneling of the Gel Lyte V. Third is the inclusion of the light blue hue to the ankle liner and back heel of the out-sole. The other small difference is the lettering on the heel looks white as opposed to blue on the GTll. Oh, and the ropes laces, but I don’t think that counts…
