Release INFO: ASICS x AFEW Gel Lyte lll “Koi”

I had to take a break from my current photo campaign to write about this collaboration. It’s one that many questioned whether it would ever see the light of day. Spring forward from 2012 to 2015 and it’s finally here; originally seen back in 2012 as a hand made 1 of 1 at an event AFEW had in Germany.  The ASICS x AFEW GLlll “KOI” colorway looks exactly as it did 3 years ago. It dawns the same red, grey, white and black hues, but with some upgraded accents and details. Some of these are the tan hue to the heel tab, wood-like eyelets, marbled front outsole, leather split tongue and perforated side panels. This is definitely a more complete ‘story’ to the original and even though we will not see the OG shape from 2012, you can’t complain to what has been presented here…

Release INFO: Nike x Clot Lunar Force 1 “10th Anniversary”

air force clot luna_3

The Air Force 1 Lunar is back in a reworked collaborative effort from Nike and CLOT. To celebrate their 10th anniversary, Clot took the AF1 Lunar and added some premium materials, an OG accent and a red, white and blue colorway. To go alongside the hyperfuse upper, Clot added Loopwheeler cotton. Not sure if that’s a first for a Nike sneaker collab or any collaboration, but I’ll assume it is. The jewel swoosh is back, an accent the AF1 had back in the 2000’s, and they went ahead by adding a kool alternating mix-match twist you’ll see in the photos. The last accent is a gum bottom outsole which brings the shoe full circle to its very clean look….

Release Reminder: New Balance x Ronnie Fieg ” Central Park and Brooklyn Bridge”

Ronnie Fieg is back at it again with New Balance. This time releasing two models side by side on the same day. RF takes a crack at the 530 and 580 models with make ups that take inspiration from two of New Yorks landmark. Central Park and the Brooklyn Bridge; where each of his retail stores reside. Simple stories with one really good outcome, and another that is rather boring looking. By far, the NB530 Central Park is the winner here with loads of intricate details. It comes dressed with a quilted vamp and ankle liner, reflective 3M, micro perforated nubuck, leather, suede, map of Central Park on the insoles, half of a gum sole and a colorway that resembles Central Park in the fall. Brilliant. As for the the NB580, it comes with some microperforated saddle leather, suede, splatter to the midsole, two tones outsole and the OG schematics to the Brooklyn Bridge on the insoles…

Release INFO: KangaROOS x Overkill Coil-R1 “Abyss Flip”

Teased a week ago, Overkill is back at it again with KangaROOS. Last year they came out with their collaboration with KangaROOS on the Coil-R1 “Abyss“. It was a very successful launch for the shoe. Too successful that people like myself up through the night, waiting for the online release, were disappointed when it never made it to the site. Hey, shit happens. Yesterday Overkill announced this version of the Abyss’s colorway in an anniversary edition. It’s basically a flip of that CW. They took the turquoise highlights and dressed up most of the shoes upper. The navy is now the ankle liner and the black on the KangaROOS logo is reversed; kangaroo turquoise and logo outline black. The only missing accent is the black outsole on the Abyss, which is now turquoise on the Abyss Flip…

Release INFO: adidas x Packer Shoes Shoes EQT Support 93 “SL80″

There’s no shortage of adidas collaborations this year. Here we have Packer Shoes with their effort on the retro adidas Originals EQT Support. The vibrate colorway tells a simple story. It’s based off the OG adidas SL80 CW, but with some slight changes; one change I honestly could have done with out. In any case, if you take a look at the original SL80, you can see where the idea stems from. Some of the changes included come from an abundance of red and a lighter blue colored vamp. Unlike the SL80 and its nylon toe box, Packer decided to add a perforated one. An accent that adds a more modern look and keeps up with current trends. It also comes dressed in beautiful lush navy suede seen through out the shoes upper. This looks absolutely fantastic in the photos and made me want to zoom in to make sure it wasn’t my eyes playing tricks on me. Another change was adding a nylon tongue over the rubber one on the SL80. Again, another accent that makes the OG make-up look a bit more ‘today’…
