Release INFO: ASICS x AFEW Gel Lyte lll “Koi”

koi-afew-asics-gel-lyte-iii-06

I had to take a break from my current photo campaign to write about this collaboration. It’s one that many questioned whether it would ever see the light of day. Spring forward from 2012 to 2015 and it’s finally here; originally seen back in 2012 as a hand made 1 of 1 at an event AFEW had in Germany.  The ASICS x AFEW GLlll “KOI” colorway looks exactly as it did 3 years ago. It dawns the same red, grey, white and black hues, but with some upgraded accents and details. Some of these are the tan hue to the heel tab, wood-like eyelets, marbled front outsole, leather split tongue and perforated side panels. This is definitely a more complete ‘story’ to the original and even though we will not see the OG shape from 2012, you can’t complain to what has been presented here…

Coming Soon: adidas Originals ZX 420 ‘Quotoole’

quotoole_1

Anyone that loves shoes will appreciate this story. A tale where a dream became a reality for two guys doing a personal project (adidas sneaker book) for the love it. That love gave them a chance to do what you see here. The ‘Quotoole’.  A collaboration between a passionate vintage adidas collector named Quote and illustrator Peter O’Toole. Their idea was to take a zx 420, the adidas Denver’s colorway, which is Quotes favorite adi pair, and reintroduce the CW you see above. What you get is a vintage feel that’s dressed in classic suede and mesh…

Release INFO: adidas x Packer Shoes Shoes EQT Support 93 “SL80″

packer-eqt-sl80-2

There’s no shortage of adidas collaborations this year. Here we have Packer Shoes with their effort on the retro adidas Originals EQT Support. The vibrate colorway tells a simple story. It’s based off the OG adidas SL80 CW, but with some slight changes; one change I honestly could have done with out. In any case, if you take a look at the original SL80, you can see where the idea stems from. Some of the changes included come from an abundance of red and a lighter blue colored vamp. Unlike the SL80 and its nylon toe box, Packer decided to add a perforated one. An accent that adds a more modern look and keeps up with current trends. It also comes dressed in beautiful lush navy suede seen through out the shoes upper. This looks absolutely fantastic in the photos and made me want to zoom in to make sure it wasn’t my eyes playing tricks on me. Another change was adding a nylon tongue over the rubber one on the SL80. Again, another accent that makes the OG make-up look a bit more ‘today’…

Coming Soon: New Balance x JCrew 998 “Concrete Jungle”

m1_nb998_aa_v2_m56577569832916230

Here’s a look at the next New Balance and JCrew collaboration. It’s another made in the USA NB 998 model and this time they are taking in the colors of army camouflage. From the looks of it, it introduces that army green again we’ve seen them use on one of their prior releases. They mixed that up with grass green, tan, brown and orange accents through out the shoe to create this 998 “Concrete Jungle”. If you don’t get “Concrete Jungle”, well it’s simple. Camouflage on your feet for walking the streets. It’s definitely not as clean as their Independence or Inferno colorways though. It’s a bit busy, but I guess that’s taking cue from the camouflage pattern itself. Overall the story is executed well, but it could have been better without that grey mesh. I believe it throws off the shoe a bit….
