After some teaser and leaked images, we finally get a clean look at Ronnie Fieg’s next chapter with PUMA. On this third collaborative installment RF picked the Puma Trinomic XT2 to work with. Keeping up with current trends the make-ups are as simple, basic and classic as they get. Forget about hues, different leathers and materials. This is a straight forward shoe. Where basic may seem like something foreign when it comes to RF designs, let it be known that quality is what this product is about. With his motto of “Giving the consumer more than what they pay for”, Ronnie went a bit further with this make-up. Using the inspiration from the products that Dover Street Market carries and its reputation, RF created two all leather Trinomic XT2’s in a tint and shade..
Too some that may sound like nothing and in fact, I felt the same way, but the leather isn’t just any leather and thats where the product shines. The shoes upper, aside from the mid and out soles, are completely derived from premium italian leather. Including the lace locks which is a first I believe; most, if not all, are made from plastic. They will also come in a special dust bag which I thinks adds a nice touch to the ‘premium’ theme of the shoes. The other accent I personally like is the absence of any branding. Anyone that owns the Puma Disc Blaze OG “Cove” and hated the over abundance of branding will be relieved. Me included. This takes me back to RF’s older collaborations where there was no branding (Now, it seems times have changed for him and branding is a huge thing for KITH). So, in a way this sparks some nostalgia for me and anyone that has been collecting his shoes since the David Z days.
Unfortunately though, you can’t really see the quality of the shoes in these rather small shots because this is a look book for the entire collection. A collection dubbed, ACHROMATIC that includes matching black and white attire. Something I’m not covering here; thats why I switched the images around to focus on the shoes. If you would like to see the collection, you can go to the KITH site for more of that and hopefully we will get better shots of the shoes themselves soon.
If interested, these will be available at all 4 Dover Street Market locations, Kith Pop-Up Shop at 66 Bleecker St., Kith Brooklyn at 233 Flatbush, and online at KithNYC.com, on Saturday, July 26th. The price point will be $180.00 for each pair. Good luck to all and hopefully I can grab a black pair for myself.
