Just only a few days after the re-launch of the Onitsuka Tiger Colorado 85, Hanon introduces their collaboration piece on the silhouette. Revisiting an older collaboration on a ASICS GTll from 2010, they once again take inspiration from the “Aurora Borealis” aka the Northern Lights. They put the idea together by using the colors of purple, blue, grey and a highlight of orange. Colors you’ll see in this image minus the green. The shoe will come fully dressed in premium calf suede and a couple of accents that will help in the interpretation of the story. One is the use of reflective tape on the inside of the Tiger Stripes of the shoe. The second is the distinct look you will get when you look at the shoe from different angles. That’s because the lateral side of the shoes Tiger Strips are blue, where as the medial side has them matching the purple hue. A cool accent that blends in well and will look nice at night when it reflects off of light…
You know, I’m a big fan of Hanon. Obviously they get a lot of love from my blog. The reason is that they surprise me with every release. I also understand that this pair will not appeal to a lot of people out there. Well, thats because its not for you. Regardless of the fact that they are coming out with a lot of collaborations in 2013, the thing to note is that they are doing it right. By that I mean the choice of brands/models they decide to work on. They don’t stick to one brand and come out with 8 shoes of that same silhouette/brand all year-long. What I get from all their current collaborations is that they strive for two things. Come out with a story based on their home land and give the consumer/fan a different experience every single time. Though this idea was already visited, it is a sort of nod to the original GTll. Brother and sister if you may and honestly, this second time the execution is better; Northern Lights in the mountain equals a trail shoe make-up. Perfect in my eyes. Hype. Yeah. With Hanon at the helm the shoe will definitely get noticed by a lot of people. Especially those that have never heard or seen the model before.
If you ‘re interested grab your digital calendars and mark off the date of August 31st, 2013 at Hanon. That’s this coming Saturday. The rest of world can grab their pair on September 7th at a specialty retailer. Good luck!
